Suspended for deceptive content: what to fix before you appeal
Updated 2 Oct 2026 by TopOnMaps team
Quick answer
This suspension means Google thinks something on the profile misleads customers. For local businesses it's usually keywords stuffed into the business name, an address where you don't actually serve customers, or details that don't match your website and signboard. Remove anything that isn't strictly true, make every detail match your real business, then appeal with proof.
Why it happens
Keywords added to the business name
A name like "Sharma Dental Clinic Best Dentist in Pune" instead of the real name on the board is a common trigger.
Address that isn't a real location
Virtual offices, co-working addresses you don't staff, or an address where customers can't visit can be treated as misleading.
Details that don't match elsewhere
A different name, phone number or website on the profile compared with your signboard and other listings.
Misleading links or claims
A website link that goes to a different business, or claims about services you don't offer.
How to fix it
Read the suspension email carefully
Note the exact reason and date so you know which part of the profile to check.
Clean up the name
Change the business name to exactly what's on your signboard and documents, with no extra keywords or locations.
Fix the address and links
Use a real address where you serve customers, or switch to a service-area business if customers don't visit you. Make sure the website link goes to your own site.
Make other listings match
Update your website, social pages and directory listings so the name, address and phone number are the same everywhere.
Appeal with proof
Submit an appeal from the appeals tool with photos of the signboard and premises and documents showing the same name and address.
For businesses in India
- Adding the area name to the business name (for example "…in Andheri") is common in India and is one of the first things to remove.
Questions
Can I keep keywords in the name if competitors do?
Competitors doing it doesn't make it allowed, and it's a common reason profiles get suspended. Use your real business name.
