Video verification rejected: what to show in your next video
Updated 2 Oct 2026 by TopOnMaps team
Quick answer
Google rejects a verification video when it can't clearly see three things: that the business is at that location, that it's the business named on the profile, and that you're the one who manages it. Record one continuous video that shows your street and signboard, walks inside, and shows something only the owner can access, such as unlocking the shop or opening the billing system.
Why it happens
The business name isn't visible
If no signboard, board inside or printed material shows the exact profile name, Google can't match the video to the profile.
The location isn't clear
Close-up shots without the street, nearby shops or landmarks don't prove where the business is.
No proof that you manage it
Google wants to see something an outsider couldn't do, like opening a locked door, a cash counter or the business's tools.
The video was cut or edited
Videos need to be one continuous recording. Stitched clips or edited footage are usually rejected.
How to fix it
Plan the route before you press record
Decide the path: street, signboard, entrance, inside, proof of management. Practise once so the video stays short and steady.
Start outside on the street
Show the road, a nearby shop or landmark, and then your signboard with the business name readable.
Walk in without stopping
Keep recording as you open the door or shutter and enter, so it's clear the inside belongs to that address.
Show proof that you run it
Unlock the shop, open the cash counter or billing system, or show business documents with the same name, such as a GST certificate or shop licence.
Upload it from the Google Maps app
Record and submit from the verification screen in the app, then avoid editing the profile while it's being reviewed.
For businesses in India
- If your signboard uses a shorter or different name from your Google profile, change one of them so they match before you record again.
- Home-based and service businesses without a shop should show tools, a vehicle with business branding, or business documents instead of a storefront.
Questions
How many times can I retry video verification?
You can usually submit again after a rejection. If no verification options are left, you'll need to contact Google Business Profile support.
How long should the video be?
Keep it short and continuous, around one to two minutes, covering only what's needed to prove the location, the name and that you manage it.
