Suspended due to quality issues: what to check and how to appeal

Updated 3 Oct 2026 by TopOnMaps team

Quick answer

"Quality issues" is a broad label. It means Google thinks the profile doesn't meet its guidelines, but it doesn't tell you which part. For local businesses it usually comes down to the name, address, phone number, category or website not matching the real business. Go through each field against your signboard and documents, fix anything that doesn't match, then appeal from the appeals tool with proof.

Why it happens

  • Extra words in the business name

Services, area names or taglines added to the name, like "Gupta Electricals Best AC Repair Noida".

  • Wrong or doubtful address

A virtual office, an address customers can't visit, or a home address shown publicly when customers never come there.

  • Category or website doesn't fit

A category that describes what you'd like to rank for rather than what you are, or a website link that goes to a different business or a social page for another brand.

  • Low-trust details

A phone number shared with other businesses, a call-forwarding number, or details that change often.

How to fix it

  1. Check the reason in the appeals tool

Open the Business Profile appeals tool while signed in to the owner account. It shows the reason and links to the policy Google applied.

  2. Audit every field against real life

Compare the name, address, phone, primary category, hours and website with your signboard, documents and website. Write down anything that differs.

  3. Fix the mismatches

Use your real business name only. Use the full address with shop number, or hide it if you're a service-area business. Pick the category that best describes the business. Link to your own website.

  4. Line up your other listings

Make your website, Facebook and Instagram pages, and directory listings show the same name, address and phone number.

  5. Appeal with documents and photos

Submit the appeal and add evidence: a registration or licence, a tax certificate or utility bill with the same name and address, and photos of the signboard and premises.

For businesses in India

  • Check old Justdial, IndiaMART or Sulekha listings too. If they show a different name or number, update them so your details look consistent.
  • If the name on your GST certificate is the legal entity name (for example a Pvt Ltd) and the board shows a trading name, include a document or photo that links the two.

Questions

Why doesn't Google tell me exactly what's wrong?

The reason shown is often general. That's why it helps to check every field against your signboard and documents, rather than guessing at one thing.

Will changing the name back fix it on its own?

Usually not on its own. Fixing the profile is the first step. You still need to submit an appeal for Google to review it again.
