Verification code not received: what to do next

Asking for many new codes quickly can lock the option. If nothing works or no options are left, contact Google Business Profile support from the help centre.

Why it happens

  • The code went to an old number or email

    Codes go to the contact details on the profile, which may not be the ones you check.

  • SMS blocked or delayed

    Promotional-message filters, DND settings or a weak network can delay or hide the SMS.

  • Postcards take time

    If the profile is being verified by post, the card can take a couple of weeks to arrive.

  • Too many requests

    Requesting new codes repeatedly can make the option unavailable for a while.

How to fix it

  1. Check where the code was sent

    On the verification screen, confirm the phone number, email or address the code went to. Fix it on the profile if it's wrong.

  2. Look in the right places

    Check SMS folders for unknown senders, your email spam folder, and with family or staff who collect post.

  3. Wait before asking again

    Give it the time Google shows before requesting a new code, and only request once more.

  4. Switch to another method if offered

    If video, call or email verification is available, use that instead of waiting for the same method.

  5. Contact support if nothing is left

    If you see no remaining options, contact Google Business Profile support from the help centre and choose the verification issue that matches yours.
