How to list your business on Bing Places

Updated 3 Oct 2026 by TopOnMaps team

Quick answer

Bing Places is free. Sign in at bing.com/forbusiness and either import your verified Google Business Profile or search for your business and claim it. If it isn't on Bing yet, create a new listing. Verify it with the PIN Bing sends you. Your listing only goes live after verification, and Bing says publishing can take up to about two weeks outside North America.

Who should list on Bing Places

  • Every local business that already has a Google profile. Importing takes little effort.
  • Businesses whose customers use Windows PCs or Microsoft's search and maps.

You can skip it if

  • Your Google profile isn't verified yet. Fix that first, then import.

Free or paid?

  • What's free

Listing on Bing Places is free.

  • What's paid

Microsoft Advertising is a separate paid product. You don't need it for a listing.

How to list on Bing Places

  1. Sign in to Bing Places

Go to bing.com/forbusiness (the old bingplaces.com address now redirects there) and sign in with a Microsoft account you'll keep.

  2. Import from Google if you can

Choose the option to import from your Google Business Profile and allow access. Bing pulls in your name, hours, contact details and services. This is the fastest route if your Google profile is already verified.

  3. Or search and claim

If you don't import, pick India as the country, search for your business name and location, and claim the matching listing. If nothing matches, create a new business.

  4. Check the basic details

Make sure name, address, phone, website, hours and category match Google exactly. You can pick one main category and up to nine more.

  5. Verify with a PIN

Request a PIN by the option Bing offers you: phone, text, email or post. Enter the six-digit PIN in the same account that requested it.

  6. Wait for publishing, without editing

Each edit restarts Bing's publishing timer. Make all your changes at once, then leave the listing alone until it's live.

How verification works

  • Bing sends a PIN by phone, text, email or post. Not every option is offered to every business.
  • Phone verification is only offered if the listing already has your business number and it hasn't been edited.
  • Postcards take longer outside the US. Bing suggests waiting at least 12 days before contacting support about a postcard.
  • If your PIN doesn't work, someone else (often an agency) may have started verification from a different account. The PIN only works in the account that requested it.

Keep it matching your Google profile

  • Bing checks your name, address, phone, website, hours and category against other sources. If they disagree, your edits may not publish or may be overwritten. Matching Google exactly avoids this.
  • Don't add keywords to your business name. Bing says it rejects that.
  • If you've moved or changed your name, Bing recommends creating a new listing and marking the old one as closed, rather than editing the old one.
  • Service-area businesses can hide the address, but only after adding a full address, a category and the areas they serve (up to 20).

Common problems

  • Import created a second listing

If Bing already had a listing for you, importing can add a duplicate. Report the duplicate to Bing Places support and ask them to keep one.

  • Stuck on "Verification in progress"

This often happens with postcard PINs. Contact Bing Places support from the Contact support page, choosing India as your region.

  • Changes not showing on Bing

Wait for the publishing cycle to finish. If an attribute still hasn't updated after several days and follows Bing's rules, flag it to support.

Questions

Does Bing copy my Google profile automatically?

Only if you use the import option and give access. After that, check the Bing listing yourself; it won't stay perfect on its own.

How many photos can I add?

Bing allows up to 100 photos. Start with two outside shots so people recognise your business, then a few from inside.

Is Bing worth it in India?

It takes little time if you import from Google, and it's free, so for most businesses yes. Just don't expect it to bring as many calls as Google.

Is your Google profile right?

Directory listings work best when they copy a correct Google profile. Get a free audit of your listing and see what to fix first.
