Appeal not approved: how to make the next one count
Updated 3 Oct 2026 by TopOnMaps team
Quick answer
A rejected appeal usually means Google still couldn't confirm the business, or something on the profile still breaks the guidelines. Don't send the same appeal again. Find what still doesn't match, fix it, and gather stronger proof. Google's help page says it may do an additional review of a denied request through a separate form, where you can add evidence you didn't send the first time.
Why it happens
The profile wasn't fully fixed
A keyword still in the name, an address without a shop number, or a category that doesn't fit can be enough for a rejection.
Weak or mismatched proof
Documents in a different name, a blurry photo, or a bill for a different address don't help and can hurt.
The business isn't eligible as listed
A home-based or online-only setup listed as a shop, or a virtual office address, won't be approved however many times you appeal.
The appeal is still marked 'Can't be appealed'
Some decisions can't go through the normal tool. In that case, use Google's help centre contact options instead.
How to fix it
Check the status and reason again
In the appeals tool, look at the status for that profile: Submitted, Approved, Not approved, Can't be appealed or Eligible for appeal. Re-read the policy it links to.
Find what still doesn't match
Compare the profile, your signboard, your documents and your website side by side. The name, address and phone should be identical everywhere.
Strengthen your proof
Use documents with the exact name and address on the profile. Add clear photos of the signboard, the street, the entrance and the inside of the premises.
Ask for an additional review
Google's suspended profiles help page links to a form for an additional review of a denied request. Use it to send the new evidence and explain what you changed.
Get a second pair of eyes
If you're stuck, post in the Business Profile help community or ask someone experienced to review the profile before you try again.
For businesses in India
- If your shop licence or GST certificate is old and shows a previous address, update it before using it as proof. An outdated document can count against you.
- Photos of the signboard should show the name exactly as it appears on the profile, in the same language and spelling.
Questions
Can I keep appealing until it works?
Sending the same appeal again rarely helps. Each new request should include a real fix or stronger evidence than the last one.
Should I create a new profile instead?
Not while the old one is under review. Google's help page warns against making a new profile for the same business during an appeal. If the business isn't eligible as listed, a new profile will run into the same problem.
