Suspended for no reason: how to find what triggered it
Updated 3 Oct 2026 by TopOnMaps team
Quick answer
It often feels like there was no reason, but something usually changed. Maybe someone suggested an edit, a new manager was added, Google re-checked an old detail, or a rule was applied more strictly. Open the appeals tool to see the reason Google gives. Then check recent changes and compare every field with your signboard and documents. Fix what doesn't match and appeal with proof.
Why it happens
An edit you didn't make
Customers, competitors or Google itself can suggest changes to your name, address, hours or category. Some of these get applied, and they can trigger a review.
Changes to owners or managers
Adding a new manager, an agency, or an account that manages many profiles can lead to a fresh check of the profile.
An old problem that was never caught
Keywords in the name or a doubtful address may have been there for years. A later review can pick them up even though nothing new happened.
Signs Google treats as suspicious
A sudden wave of reviews, logins from unusual places, or the same phone number on several profiles.
How to fix it
Read the reason in the appeals tool
Sign in with the owner account and open the Business Profile appeals tool. Note the reason and the policy it links to.
Check recent activity
Look at what changed in the last few weeks: edits marked as Google updates, new managers, a change of category or hours, or a burst of new reviews.
Remove access you don't recognise
If there's an owner or manager you don't know, remove them and secure your Google account with a new password and 2-step verification.
Compare every field with real life
Name, address, phone, category and website should match your signboard, documents and website exactly. Fix anything that doesn't.
Appeal with proof
Submit an appeal and add documents and photos that show the same name and address. Explain briefly what you corrected.
For businesses in India
- Many Indian businesses had their profile set up years ago by a relative, staff member or a local agency. Check who else has access. Old managers you've lost touch with are a common loose end.
Questions
Can Google suspend a profile without me changing anything?
Yes. Google reviews profiles over time and edits can come from other people, so a suspension can happen without any change from your side.
Who can I talk to at Google about it?
The main route is the appeals tool. You can also use the contact options in the Business Profile help centre and post in the Business Profile help community, where volunteer experts often spot the cause.
