Google Business Profile for coaching institutes and tuition centres in India

Quick answer

Use "Coaching Center" as your primary category and never add exam names or "No. 1" to your business name. List each course and batch as a service, with the class or exam and timings. Ask for reviews from students and parents at the end of a course or after results, and only post results of your own students with their consent.

Courses and batches to list

Parents and students search by class, subject and exam. Name each course plainly and add batch timings in the description.

  • School tuition by class and board, like class 9 and 10 CBSE maths and science
  • Class 11 and 12 science or commerce coaching
  • Entrance exam preparation (name the exams you prepare for, in the service, not in your business name)
  • Government job exam preparation, if you run it
  • Spoken English or computer courses, if you teach them
  • Crash courses before board exams
  • Online batches, if you run them
  • Demo class, only if every new student gets one

Photos that work

  • Classrooms with students in a class, taken from the back so faces aren't the focus.
  • Your faculty, with their names and subjects in the caption.
  • The entrance and board, and the building if you're on an upper floor.
  • Study material, test papers or a library corner.
  • Facilities like AC classrooms, a reading room or parking, if you have them.
  • Get permission from students, and parents of minors, before posting photos where students can be recognised.

What to post about

  • New batches starting, especially after board results and before the new school session.
  • Crash course dates before board exams.
  • Results of your own students, with their and their parents' consent, and only for students who actually studied with you.
  • Free doubt-clearing sessions or seminars, with date and time.
  • Holiday and exam-day timings.

When and how to ask for reviews

Ask at the end of a course or after results come out. For school students, ask the parent, since they're the one who chose you and paid the fees.

  1. Ask at the last class

On the final day of a course, the teacher thanks the batch and shares the review link in the batch WhatsApp group.

  2. Ask parents at the parent meeting

Put the review QR at the desk during parent-teacher meetings.

  3. Ask everyone, not just toppers

Ask every student and parent, not only those with top marks. Selective asking breaks Google's rules.

  4. No fee discounts for reviews

Don't offer discounts or free material in exchange for a review.

Whenever you ask, Google's rules apply: ask every customer, not only the happy ones, and never offer anything in return for a review.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Exam names or "best" in the business name

"ABC Classes - Best IIT JEE NEET Coaching" breaks Google's rules. Profiles get suspended for it.

  • Claiming other people's results

Posting toppers who weren't your regular students misleads parents and can lead to complaints.

  • Separate profiles for each subject or batch

One centre, one profile. Each batch is a service, not a business.

Questions

I teach at home. Can I show my address?

If students come to your home for classes during set hours, you can. If you'd rather keep it private, hide the address and set the areas you serve.

Can I post my students' marks?

Only with the student's consent, and a parent's if they're a minor. Many institutes post a first name and the marks instead of full details.
