Google Business Profile for dentists and dental clinics in India

Updated 3 Oct 2026 by TopOnMaps team

Quick answer

Choose "Dentist" as your primary category and list each treatment you offer, like root canal, scaling, braces and implants, as a separate service. Patients want to see a clean clinic, so post real photos of your chair, sterilisation area and waiting room. Ask every patient for a review when they are at the front desk after a completed treatment, not in the middle of one.

Primary category

Dentist

Also add, if they fit

  • Dental clinic
  • Cosmetic dentistAdd if you do smile makeovers, veneers or whitening.
  • OrthodontistAdd only if an orthodontist works at your clinic.
  • Dental implants providerAdd only if you place implants.
  • Paediatric Dentist (also shown as “Pediatric dentist”)Add only if a children's dentist works with you.
  • Only add "Orthodontist", "Paediatric Dentist" or "Dental implants provider" if a dentist with that skill actually works at your clinic. Adding them to look bigger can get your profile flagged.
  • If two or more dentists share the clinic, the clinic gets one profile. Google has separate rules for individual practitioner profiles, so read its guidelines before creating one for each dentist.

Treatments to list

Add each treatment as its own service. Patients search for the treatment, not for "dental services". A one-line plain description helps more than a long one.

  • Dental check-up and consultation
  • Scaling and polishing (teeth cleaning)
  • Fillings
  • Root canal treatment
  • Tooth extraction, including wisdom teeth if you do them
  • Crowns and bridges
  • Dentures
  • Braces and clear aligners, only if an orthodontist sees patients with you
  • Dental implants, only if you place them
  • Teeth whitening
  • Children's dentistry

Photos that work

  • The outside of the clinic with your signboard, so patients recognise it from the road.
  • Your dental chair and treatment room, clean and well lit.
  • The sterilisation area or autoclave. Many patients worry about hygiene and this answers it without words.
  • The waiting area and reception desk.
  • The dentists and staff in the clinic, with their permission.
  • Your X-ray or scanning equipment, if you have it in-house.
  • Skip photos of patients' mouths unless the patient has agreed in writing. Never show a face without consent.

What to post about

  • A short note on what happens during a root canal, in plain words. It lowers the fear that stops people calling.
  • Children's check-ups when schools close for summer holidays, when parents have time to bring them in.
  • Changed timings for Diwali, Holi, Eid or other holidays, posted a few days before.
  • A new dentist joining, or a new treatment you now offer, like aligners.
  • Simple care tips after a treatment, like what to eat after an extraction.

When and how to ask for reviews

Ask at the reception desk after a treatment is finished, or at the last visit of a multi-sitting treatment like a root canal. Asking halfway through a painful treatment rarely goes well.

  1. Keep your review link ready

Save your Google review link as a WhatsApp quick reply on the clinic phone, and print it as a QR code at the reception desk.

  2. Ask every patient the same way

When the patient pays or books the next visit, the receptionist says: "If you were happy with today, a Google review helps other patients find us." Ask everyone, not just the ones who smiled.

  3. Send the link the same day

Send it on WhatsApp that evening with the patient's appointment reminder or bill, while the visit is fresh.

  4. Reply without medical details

Thank people by name if they used it, but never mention their treatment or condition in your reply. A reply is public.

Whenever you ask, Google's rules apply: ask every customer, not only the happy ones, and never offer anything in return for a review.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Keywords in the clinic name

"Smile Dental Clinic" is fine. "Smile Dental Clinic - Best RCT and Implants in Andheri" breaks Google's rules and can get your profile suspended.

  • Practo and Google showing different timings

Patients compare both. If your Google hours say 7 pm and Practo says 8 pm, you lose trust and get missed calls. Change both on the same day.

  • Discounts in return for reviews

A free cleaning for a five-star review is against Google's rules. Reviews gathered this way can be removed and the profile can be restricted.

  • Claims you can't back up

Your professional body has rules on how dentists can advertise. Check them before writing words like "painless" or "guaranteed" in your description or posts.

Questions

Should each dentist at my clinic have their own Google profile?

Usually the clinic's profile is enough. Google does allow profiles for individual practitioners in some cases, but it has specific rules for this. Read Google's guidelines on practitioner profiles before creating one, and never create a second profile just to show up twice.

Can I post before-and-after photos of a patient's teeth?

Only with the patient's written consent, and only of the teeth, not the face. Also check what your professional body allows in clinical photos used for promotion.

I already have a Practo profile. Do I still need Google?

Yes. Many patients search "dentist near me" on Google or Maps and never open Practo. Keep both, with the same name, address, phone and timings.
